The multi-million pound housing development will be in Burnopfield, County Durham.

Plans for new £14m housing development could create 150 new North East jobs

Plans for a new multi-million pound residential housing scheme on the outskirts of a County Durham village have been submitted for approval.

If approved, the development could create 150 local construction jobs building 49 new homes and apartments.

The development, designed by Ergo Projects, would be developed by Akenside Developments in Burnopfield, and would start being worked on in the spring.

The companies expect the development to boost spending on local leisure facilities and services by up to £40k a year, as people move into their new homes.

Managing director of Ergo Projects, Adrian Reay, said: “As architectural technologists, we want to work on challenging projects and for clients with ambition.

“With our designs, we have also focused on aspects around green credentials and ensuring the homes are as energy efficient as possible.”

“The opportunity to work for one of the region’s most exciting, up-and-coming residential developers is an exciting one that we would welcome as a creatively-driven design office.”
