New eatery to bring taste of Sri Lanka coast to central London
A new restaurant specialising in southern Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine is set to open its doors in the heart of London next month.
Hoppers, which takes inspiration from the home cooking and roadside stalls of Sri Lanka and southern India, will launch on February 11 in Pancras Square at Kings Cross.
The new restaurant will be inspired by the coastal journey from Sri Lanka capital Colombo to the historical Dutch town of Galle.
With interiors by Article Design Studio, the restaurant will incorporate features from Geoffrey Bawa’s Bentota Railway Station, and the Coat of Arms Bar at Jetwing’s Lighthouse Hotel in Galle.
Hoppers director Karan Gokani commented: “It’s been great to see London embrace Hoppers since we opened in Soho four years ago, and we look forward to continuing the journey with the opening of King’s Cross.
“Inspired by the coastal journey from Colombo to Galle, we’re looking forward to cooking more seafood and southern dishes at King’s Cross.”
