Interior fit-out of luxury hotel next to Windsor Great Park continues
Works are progressing on the interior fit-out of the new Fairmont Windsor Park hotel, as West Midlands-based SMART Balustrades commences work onsite.
Due to open in 2020, the new-build Fairmont Windsor Park – which is part of the prestigious Fairmont hotel brand portfolio – is located on the site of the former 141-bed Savill Court Hotel & Spa and will boast over 200 bedrooms, seven restaurant and bars (including a tea salon and champagne lounge), extensive spa and wellness facilities spread across 2,500 sqm of space, an 800 capacity ballroom, and 16 meeting rooms.
Acquired by Arora Group in 2014 and initial construction works commencing in 2017, the design of the new building will be based around the original Jacobean style of the Savill Court Hotel, set in sprawling grounds adjacent to Windsor Great Park.
SMART Balustrades, working in conjunction with contractor Grove Developments and lead architect Unum Partnership, is fitting a range of balustrades throughout the hotel, including stainless steel installations with toughened glass for stairways and structural glass balustrades for the hotel’s terraces.
The company, which is part of the Unitech Group, is also fitting mirror polished stainless-steel handrails and balustrades to the spa and swimming pools areas, as well as various other railing and metalwork around the 66,000 sq ft site.
David Hough, managing director of SMART Balustrades, said: “This is a very impressive, high-end hotel development and we are pleased to be working with Grove Developments for the third time on a scheme of this size and scale, which is testament to the quality of our products and services.
“We work closely with all of our clients to provide expert advice on the best balustrade products for each development which therefore saves costs and time through the installation process. The hotel is going to be spectacular and myself and the team are looking forward to seeing it complete next year.”
This is the third project that SMART Balustrades has delivered with Grove Developments, having previously provided its services on the Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza dual-branded hotel at Heathrow Airport Terminal 4 and the Hilton Garden Inn located at Heathrow’s Terminal 2, which opened in October of this year.
Sinead Hughes, director at Grove Developments, said: “We are privileged to work on some incredibly exciting projects at Arora Group and this is no exception. On each of our developments, we work with a trusted team of supply chain partners and SMART Balustrades is very much a part of that. We enjoy an ongoing relationship with the company as it delivers creative design solutions to an agreed timeframe.
“The Fairmont Windsor Park is a special project to us in many ways; with its striking design, opulent finishes, unrivalled countryside setting adjacent to Windsor Great Park and wellness facilities, it will be wonderful place to enjoy for generations to come.”
Mark Ritchie, at Unum Partnership, said: “The Fairmont Windsor Park is a special project which when complete, will offer English country manor-style accommodation and facilities - with a contemporary twist.
“The design of the hotel was incredibly important; not just because of its location, but also that we needed to incorporate the architectural architecture of the original mansion (previously Savill Court Hotel) which stood on the site.
“Using our expertise in this area, the design of the hotel has stayed true to the site’s heritage, incorporating the look and feel of the façade of the original building which has lavish Flemish influences.”
With a head office in Burntwood, Staffordshire, SMART Balustrades designs and manufactures its balustrades and other products at Unitech Group’s 75,000 sq. ft. production facility in the heart of the Staffordshire.
