Bangers for Cancer Care
In 2019, Crewe VW Sales Exec, Mike Brain and Stock Controller, Jack Hughes, took an un-loved Toyota Corolla and turned her into a camouflage queen named Betsy, they took her on the drive of her life entering the Two Ball Banger Rally, all to raise funds for Leighton Hospital labour ward.
This year, the twosome is joined by colleague, Edward Hark and their aim is to raise £2,500 for St Luke’s Hospice, as Ed explains, “Jack lost his dad last year, and St Luke’s made sure he had wonderful, dignified care until he passed away and I lost my mum to cancer when I was 18 and she was cared for in the hospice movement too, as was my Dad who I lost when I was 29. Jack is only 26, so, as young men we wanted to do something to support those who supported us and our parents”.
So, they’ve taken a poorly VW Passat and turned into a Mad Max style machine, called Betty; they’ve named themselves, the Cheshire Boys Banger Rally team and you can follow and support them on JustGiving, Facebook and Instagram. Family-owned, Swansway Motor Group, which runs Crewe VW, is supporting the Banger Boys in their fund-raising challenge.
