Boxer opens new Lincolnshire facilities after ‘knock-out’ success

Scunthorpe boxing club given ’fighting chance’ thanks to UKSE funding

Outlaw School of Boxing has installed new gym and boxing ring facilities at its site in Brumby in Scunthorpe following unprecedented demand for its tailored boxing and personal training classes.

The club, launched by professional boxer Luke Fisher, provides services to a wide range of clients including school children, young men in the social care system and young offenders, with the objective of helping them improve both their physical and mental health.

Outlaw School of Boxing has developed a strong repeat client base from local schools, local authorities and the wider general public, allowing the club to expand its offering with its new site.

Equipment for the new gym such as boxing gloves, new flooring and security lighting were purchased using Kickstart Grant funding which was awarded to the club by UKSE.

Luke Fisher commented: “Since the launch of the club we’ve seen a real thirst for our sessions from people of all ages and it is great to be able to work with so many people particularly youngsters who are most at risk.

“We work closely to provide those who are disengaged with school, or those trying to rebuild their lives, a place where they can feel included and motivated.

“Thank you to UKSE, our new facilities will allow the club to expand further and become truly instilled in the local community.”

Alan Stanley, Regional Executive at UKSE commented: “After speaking with Luke, what is clear is that these facilities will help engage with key groups in the local area who may have been previously over looked or struggled to find a place that is right for them.

“I look forward to seeing the club further develop and wish them the very best of luck.”
