Top lawyer gears up for host of fundraising events
A leading lawyer is hoping for her biggest ever year of fundraising activities to support two charities that are close to her heart.
Helen Watson, Partner and Head of Employment Law at Chester legal firm Aaron & Partners, will ride more than 230km from Split to Dubrovnik in Croatia over three days this May, in an effort to raise funds for Wirral-based charity Claire House Hospice.
Helen, who is no stranger to fundraising challenges, has chosen to split the money raised this year between Claire House and Women V Cancer, a fundraising partnership between Breast Cancer Care, Ovarian Cancer Action and Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.
She has already taken on charity challenges in Italy, Brazil, and Vietnam to Cambodia, helping to raise over £100,000 to benefit a number of charities across the North West to date.
To kickstart her 2020 fundraising efforts, she has organised a 20’s-themed ‘Fizz and Flappers’ ball, which will be held at The Chester Grosvenor on Saturday, March 21. The annual event will include champagne tasting, live jazz music and a silent auction, where a holiday to Marrakech is up for grabs.
Helen said: “I’m incredibly proud to be supporting both Claire House Hospice and Women V Cancer for another year and I’m excited to get this year’s fundraising off to a great start with a fabulous ‘Fizz and Flappers’ themed ball.
“The annual ball is now a highlight in our fundraising calendar, and it’s such an important night for raising vital funds to help two fantastic charities that are doing crucial work for those in need.
“I started the ball in 2011 after losing a close friend to ovarian cancer, and the event has gone from strength-to-strength ever since thanks to the support from Aaron & Partners and the Chester business community.”
Helen will also be completing the Paris marathon in April as well as the New York marathon in October to support her fundraising total for both charities.
Helen continued: “Aaron & Partners has always backed all of the fundraising challenges I undertake, and I’m incredibly thankful that I am able to travel the world whilst being able to help make a tangible difference to two local charities.
“I’m looking forward to a brilliant evening on March 21, which will have a genuine, positive impact on the work of Claire House Hospice and Women v Cancer.”
