Worldwide Innovation from Clavis IDS
The Elected Mayor of North Tyneside, Norma Redfearn CBE has visited one of the region’s most innovative businesses to see for herself why they won the 2019 North Tyneside Business Forum’s Business of the Year Award.
New York based, Clavis Integrated Display Systems (IDS) are recognised as the industry leader for designing and manufacturing belt tension measurement equipment and automotive handbrake setting equipment worldwide. The company design and produce all of their parts in-house to ensure lead times, quality and accuracy is maintained to high standards. All of their machining services and manufacturing processes are backed by a proven and recognised quality system and they have recently built a new state of the art machine shop at their premises to carry their processes into the 21st century.
As well as winning the North Tyneside Business Forum’s annual award for business of the year, the firm have secured six Queen’s Award for Enterprise Awards.
Director, Mark Errington was delighted to take the Elected Mayor on a tour of the facilities and introduce her to some of the firm’s staff including their latest intake of apprentices.
“I started off as an apprentice myself when I left school and have worked my way to where I am now. We place a great deal of emphasis on our apprentices as they are our future. We’ve had a lot of support from North Tyneside Council and the Business Forum and we are all proud that we are making an impact on a global scale and flying the flag for our local area.”
The Elected Mayor enjoyed her tour of the premises and was impressed with the scale of their operation: “We sometimes don’t realise just how wonderful the companies we have in North Tyneside are and I for one appreciate the impact that they are having on a number of projects and workstreams throughout the world.”
Vice Chair of North Tyneside Business Forum, Karen Goldfinch added:
“Clavis IDS were worthy winners of our business of the year award and I can see why. I wish them well into the future and offer them the full support of the business forum.”
