£2.24m housing development underway in Darlington
Work has begun on a new multi-million pound housing development for over sixties in the North East.
The housing estate, which is on Barton Street, will include 16 ‘affordable’ bungalows allocated to people over the age of 60.
The £2.24m project is under construction by Railway Housing Association, which was awarded the contract by T Manners & Sons.
The development is predicted to be fully completed by this summer.
Railway Housing Association’s director of customer services, Andrea Abbott, commented: “We’re delighted to be working with T Manners & Sons on our newest development in Darlington.
“Over the last 18 months, we have worked hard to provide a range of affordable homes for rent for a real cross section of the community, helping to meet this need in Darlington.
“The 16 homes we are now building will complement [previous project]The Sidings and deliver high-quality older person’s accommodation in the centre of Darlington.”
Wayne Harris, construction director at T Manners, added: “This is our first development working for Railway Housing Association and we are proud to be working in partnership with them to deliver this scheme in Darlington.
“Like ourselves, they are an organisation with a long, proud history and a proven track record of delivering high quality housing developments.”
