Renewables investment firm secures onshore wind farm in £51m deal
A London-based investment specialist has agreed to secure a wind farm in Northern Ireland in a multi-million pound deal.
Greencoat UK Wind PLC (UKW) is set to purchase Slieve Divena II from SSE Renewables for a consideration of £51m.
Located around 10 miles southeast of Omagh in County Tyrone, the wind farm has a capacity of 18.8MW and has been operational since June 2017.
SSE Renewables will continue to manage the wind farm following the acquisition, as well as neighbouring facility Slieve Divena, which was acquired by UKW in 2017.
Tim Ingram, chairman of UKW, commented: “We are delighted to acquire our eighth wind farm from SSE, which is testament to the longstanding relationship we have developed.
“Slieve Divena II is a high quality, ROC-accredited asset sitting alongside our Slieve Divena wind farm and is a natural addition to our portfolio of operating UK wind farms, which now has a net generating capacity of almost 1GW.”
