New charge points for Durham in £1m car park refurbishment

A Durham car park is introducing new electric vehicle charging points as part of its £1m refurbishment.

The Prince Bishops Shopping Centre car park has become the first car park in the city to introduce six electric vehicle charging points.

Charging vehicles at the points will be free of charge for two hours, supported by the Pod Point app to pay for any further charge.

The million pound refurbishment also gave the car park a new look.

Richard Toynbee, centre manager of Prince Bishops Shopping Centre, commented: “We hope that by introducing these six new electric vehicle charging points to the centre of the city, electric vehicle owners might feel more confident about using their electric cars to travel into the city centre.

“[We also hope] that other motorists might also be emboldened to invest in a plug-in hybrid or electric motor vehicle too.

“We care passionately about the environment and lessening pollution levels on our roads, and are keen to encourage Durham residents to become greener and more energy efficient.”
