New affordable homes by Thirteen at Grove Hill in Middlesbrough

A former housing site in Middlesbrough that was demolished several years ago as part of a huge regeneration programme, has been transformed into the first phase of a modern development.

Bishopton Road in Grove Hill is now the location of 92 new homes following the completion of the scheme by Thirteen.

The development, including two- and three-bedroomed bungalows and two, three- and four-bedroomed houses for affordable rent, has been built by construction and regeneration specialist, Vistry Partnerships North East, with funding support from Thirteen’s Strategic Partner, Homes England.

Chris Smith, Thirteen’s executive director of service delivery and development, said: “We’re thrilled to have completed these new homes, which have helped to address the demand for affordable housing in Middlesbrough.

“It’s a fantastic housing and regeneration project that’s brought investment to the area and created local jobs during construction.

“These new homes are making an important contribution to meeting the housing needs in the borough and we are sure they will enhance the area and create a positive legacy for years to come.

“It’s proved to be extremely popular with customers and we’ve been really pleased that all properties have been let really quickly.

“We’d like to thank everyone involved in delivering the scheme, including Homes England for the funding support, and I hope the homes bring a lot of happiness to our new residents.”

Middlesbrough Mayor Andy Preston said: “It’s great to see this important area of Middlesbrough being transformed.

“Thirteen is creating the sort of homes people want, and the popularity of these new lets speaks volumes.”

Sean Egan, managing director with Vistry Partnerships North, added: “Improving the quality and choice of homes in the region, across all tenures, is our aim and we are delighted to have completed the construction of this fantastic affordable housing scheme, which I am sure will be appreciated by the local community.”
