Blyth manufacturer plans 40-strong workforce increase

A technical materials manufacturer has increased its workforce to support its ongoing expansion following a £700k investment in the North East.

Texo Group has recruited 14 new employees in Port of Blyth as it increases its operations to target offshore oil, gas and wind energy sectors, and says it is “confident” that it will create 40 jobs by the end of the year.

Texo Group has invested £700k in Port of Blyth since settling there in 2018, including the creation of a purpose-built fabrication unit with two overhead cranes and direct dockside loading facilities.

The new employees include new workshop manager Barry Lernon.

Gary Mitchelson, managing director of Texo Fabrication, said: “We are pleased to have recruited someone of Barry’s calibre and experience to support our engineering centre of excellence at the Port of Blyth.

“His background in fabrication and management will be the lynchpin of the team we are building on the quayside, which will offer Texo Group clients an unrivalled range and depth of services to our core customer base across oil and gas, renewables, infrastructure and decommissioning.

“I am confident we will have created 40 jobs by the end of this year as the business grows.”
