What's the key to staff retention?
Whatever the magic recipe is for staff retention national footwear retailer Charles Clinkard seem to have it nailed. Four members of staff at the Meadowhall store in Sheffield recently clocked up 100 years of service. MD Charles Clinkard said: “It is one of our aims as a company to ensure staff are happy - losing them can lead to costs in terms of recruitment and training. We pride ourselves on customer service and employ fantastic staff to ensure that’s delivered. “It is proven that treating staff with respect and providing a good working environment results in better staff retention – and I’m not sure you can get better than this.” Clare Green and Angela Hirst have been with the company for 30 years and Sharon McDonald and Christine Woffindin for 20. Christine said: “It is just a really nice place to work. The staff all get on very well and it’s friendly in terms of colleagues and customers. We have regularz who come in to see us and say “We’re part of the furniture!”
