London property investor goes "from strength to strength" with five star Yorkshire hotel acquisition

A five star hotel in Yorkshire has been acquired by a London property investment group.

Shepherd Cox, based in London, has acquired the Grade ll listed Crab Manor and its accompanying restaurant, the Crab and Lobster, in Thirsk.

The hotel, which was founded in 1991, houses 20 rooms, which vary in theme - the company describes the rooms as looking like anything from the Ritz to the Bellagio.

Other rooms are in the style of destinations around the world.

Lee Bramzell, founder of the Shepherd Cox hotel group, said: “We’re incredibly delighted to be able to add the Crab Manor hotel and its restaurant, the Crab and Lobster, to our ever growing and impressive portfolio of hotels.

“I’m happy to say that, with this new acquisition, we are only going from strength to strength as our portfolio of hotels grows and drives the business forward.”

The hotel is the group’s 19th acquisition. It follows the buying of The Bridge Hotel and Spa in Wetherby, near Leeds, and The George Coaching Inn, in Piercebridge, which is in the North East.

Other purchases include a three-AA-starred 103-bedroom hotel in Lincolnshire called the Old Barn, which was bought last month, and the Wroxton House Hotel in Banbury, Oxfordshire.
