Former Killamarsh railway station site plans given green light

NORTH East Derbyshire Council has approved plans for the development of the former Killamarsh railway station site.

The proposal put forward by the team at CODA Planning was for 13 two and three bed bungalows on the site of the dismantled and archived station building, overlooking the Trans Pennine Trail, which follows the route of the old railway line.

The properties have been designed by the architects of award winning Sheffield multi disciplinary practice CODA Studios in association with Ackroyd & Abbott.

“This is an exciting development for a site that remained derelict for a decade now,” said CODA Planning director Rob Crolla.

“These will not be your “run of the mill” bungalows - all will be brick-built, with pitched roofs and Velux windows, with a design capitalising on the increasing popularity of open plan living and space.

“It is the perfect development for Killamarsh, which is ideally situated in the Yorkshire/Derbyshire border, very close to Sheffield and within easy access of the M1.

“We are delighted that the proposals received such a positive response from the community’s council representatives and we look forward to seeing the development move quickly to site.”
