Grays Cash Converters cycles 220 miles to raise vital funds for sporting charity

Grays Cash Converters has taken part in a fundraising challenge to raise money for Sports Relief, a charity that aims to tackle poverty and offers mental health support through the power of sport.

The team at the Grays branch of Cash Converters has raised funds for national charity, Sports Relief, after taking part in a 12-hour cycling challenge.

Colleagues were invited to spend one hour of their working day on an exercise bike set up in-store, with staff members collectively cycling over 220 miles during the course of the day.

As a result of the challenge, which took place on Friday 13 March, the team, raised vital funds for the charity, with more donations on the way.

The event was organised by Cash Converters Area Manager, Stewart Grant, alongside the Grays Store Managers.

Speaking of his decision to support Sport Relief 2020, Stewart said: “We decided to host this event to raise vital funds for a charity that is close to many employees here at Cash Converters.

“Sport Relief pledges to help vulnerable people across the country including tackling homelessness and driving mental health awareness – and we simply wanted to get behind that.

“We’re thrilled with the result of the fundraiser and I would like to thank all customers who donated on the day, along with the colleagues involved to make this event a huge success”.

Sports Relief is a nationwide charity event, established from the organisers of Comic Relief and in association with BBC Sport. The charity brings together the worlds of sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world’s poorest countries.

Broadcast live on the BBC, the event held on Friday 13 March raised over £40m in total for Sports Relief.

Cash Converters is a franchised retailer with 196 outlets throughout the country.
