2,900 jobs slashed as Carphone Warehouse to close all stores
Mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse has announced it will close all of its 531 stores next month.
The move, which will see all standalone stores close from April, will result in the redundancies of 2,900 staff.
It is expected that 40 per cent of the retailer’s staff will be redeployed to its Carphone Warehouse concessions within PC World and Curry’s.
Carphone Warehouse has stated that the closure of its stores is the result of a ‘changing mobile market’, and not the result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The company also confirmed that PC World and Curry’s will be unaffected by the closures.
