GT appoints new forensics director for the North
LEADING business adviser firm Grant Thornton has appointed a new director for its Forensic and Investigation Services (FIS) team.
Daniel Turner will be based in the firm’s Manchester office, heading a team of 12 across the North, covering Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds.
Daniel has over 17 years’ experience in accounting with a particular focus on disputes and investigations. He joins from FTI Consulting, where he worked for over two years as a Managing Director based in Dubai.
A chartered accountant and a Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), he began specialising in forensic accounting in 2009. He started his career in Manchester, before moving to the Middle East to help a number of firms establish and develop their forensic presence, including BDO and PwC.
His experience spans across a range of engagements, investigating both pre and post-transactional disputes, and supporting clients and their legal teams across a broad range of sectors on contentious matters. Daniel has been appointed as an expert and his client portfolio includes public and private companies, law firms, regulators and governments.
Having led on a number of high-profile cases, he was recently appointed as expert to provide forensic services to a FTSE-listed provider of transport services, during a dispute related to one of the largest automated metro systems in the world.
Given his extensive knowledge of the area, Daniel has also been an expert voice on topics including the role of experts in disputes and combating sector fraud. He has delivered a number of presentations on these subjects, providing guidance to local and international law firms.
Commenting on the appointment, Carl Williams, North West managing partner at Grant Thornton said: “Forensic services is one of our most rapidly developing service lines and as we look to expand upon our offering, we must continue to invest in our team.
“Daniel’s exceptional and wide-ranging experience blends everything from corporate transactions to litigation and arbitration support. I have no doubt his track record and great contacts will prove instrumental in driving our growth across the North of England.”
Commenting on his appointment, Daniel said: “After London, Manchester has one of the largest legal services community in the UK and handles a number of high profile disputes and investigations. Given the volume of transactional activity and new business in the region, combined with the strength of the Grant Thornton brand, we have an opportunity to benefit a range of industries across their respective lifecycles.”
“I am thrilled to be joining the FIS team, and look forward to expanding the already strong service provision of our forensic and dispute advisory offering.”
