London biking firm receives £50k to launch ethical bags
A London bike accessory firm has received a £50k funding package to launch a line of ethical products.
Goodordering, an independent bike accessory company in Hackney, East London, has launched its first range of bags made from 100 per cent recycled plastic bottles following a £50k funding package from HSBC UK.
As a result, Goodordering has struck up retail partnerships for the new products with KIDLY UK and Not on the Highstreet, as well as growing its customer base.
Goodordering will this year begin to manufacture all its product lines from sustainable materials and is exploring opportunities to move manufacturing to the UK to further increase the business’s environmental credentials.
Jacqui Ma, founder of Goodordering, commented: “I’ve worked within the fashion design industry for many years, and sustainable products are in demand more now than they ever have been.
“I’m passionate about meeting that demand through my own products so I’m grateful for HSBC UK’s support in bringing our product line to the market, and for helping a small, independent business drive the industry’s ethical standards forward.”
Richard Gimblett, area director for business banking in London city for HSBC UK, added: “HSBC UK is always keen to support innovative, sustainable businesses that are disrupting their industries, and Goodordering is a great example of this.
“We have a great belief in the company’s mission and wish the team continued growth and success going forward.”
