Early completion for Seaham residential development following ‘huge’ demand
Work on a new housing scheme in County Durham is set to complete a year ahead of schedule due to ‘huge demand’ for its properties.
Construction is set to be finished next year at the Byron Heights development in Seaham ahead of the initial 2022 completion date, due to a high demand for the site’s properties.
Led by housebuilder Bellway, the development off Dalton Heights Road will comprise 75 new homes, including a mix of three and four-bedroom houses.
Oliver Wray, sales manager for Bellway Durham, commented: “The rate at which homes have been selling at Byron Heights has been absolutely incredible. In fact, the homes are being bought quicker then we can build them.
“The high level of interest that we have seen in the homes at the development underlines just how strong the property market is in Seaham at present.
“The fact that we are seeing so many local buyers also demonstrates that there is huge demand from people who already live in the town who want to stay in the area.”
Christine Craggs, senior negotiator at Dowen’s Estate Agents in Seaham, which works closely with Bellway, added: “The property market in Seaham is strong right now. It is possible to buy a house here for anything between £20k and £500k, so if the homes are priced right, you will always get a good response from customers.
“I think that’s what Bellway has done well at Byron Heights. One of the reasons that Byron Heights has been so popular is its location. The development is built in an area that is close to amenities like the Byron Place Shopping Centre and a beach which is only a couple of miles away.”
