Facing COVID-19: The digital company delivering an online prescription service

A digital transformation consultancy has partnered with a pharmacy chain to build an online prescription delivery service.

Infinity Works, based in Leeds, has teamed up with Well Pharmacy for the project, which comes as the public is advised to avoid leaving their houses as much as possible.

Patients choose to send their requests via Well’s app or website. These orders are routed to Well’s distribution centre where they are dispatched with free delivery.

Infinity Works partnered with Well to design, build and test every step of this repeat prescription process.

The service means that people ordering repeat prescriptions won’t need to risk visiting a pharmacy in the midst of the pandemic.

Paul Henshaw, joint managing director of Infinity Works, commented: “We wanted to make sure this was an incredibly easy-to-use service for anyone, from an 84-year-old with limited mobility to a busy working parent who cannot use a pharmacy during usual working hours.

“The digital transformation that Well Pharmacy undertook has improved customer and patient experience as its core objective.

“The project has delivered what Well Pharmacy set out to achieve in partnership with Infinity Works and the pharmacy is benefiting from significant productivity gains as well.

“We continue to engage with Well Pharmacy as a strategic partner on a number of other market-leading digital transformation programmes to enable the company to continue improving customer and patient experience.”

Gill Stone, regulatory and NHS standards lead for digital pharmacy at Well, added: “The solution that Infinity Works developed with us is easy to use for our team.

“By working together we were able to make sure that we could manage the safety and accuracy of dispensing medication in the same way as we do in our physical pharmacies while meeting the specific requirements of our regulator for online pharmacies.”
