Vacant South Yorkshire site set to be transformed into 237-home development

Plans for a new residential scheme at a ‘rundown’ site in South Yorkshire have been given the green light.

Planning and development specialist Lichfields has obtained consent from Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council for the development on a brownfield site in Thrybergh.

Totalling 237 new homes, the development will comprise 157 affordable homes as well as 80 private rental properties.

The 6.93 acre site comprises two parcels of land north and south of Oldgate Lane. It will include 11,344 sq m of public open space, comprising seven separate grassed areas, and provide 364 car parking spaces.

Katie Brown, a senior planner in Lichfields’ Leeds office, commented: “Once complete the development will deliver much-needed housing and help regenerate the area and the local community.

“Not may developments of this scale are able to deliver 66 per cent affordable housing, and, when complete, this will be able to provide high-quality homes to many families and residents in the area.”
