South Tyneside Council to boost local care sector with fast-track scheme

An increased demand for care services in South Tyneside has seen the local council recruit for a range of new roles.

South Tyneside Council has launched a recruitment drive, inviting people from the region to apply to work in adult social care, which is facing additional pressures as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The council has pledged to provide applicants with fast track training, DBS adults first clearance and support in securing employment with a commissioned adult social care provider.

Cllr Tracey Dixon, deputy leader of South Tyneside Council with responsibility for independence and wellbeing, commented: “The people of South Tyneside always come together in times of crisis and very many are passionate about helping others.

“This is an opportunity to make a difference to the lives of some of our most vulnerable residents.

“Working in care is not without its challenges but, as many of our carers testify, it brings many rewards. We need people to step forward to the challenge so I would urge anyone who feels they have the right temperament and skills to get in touch.”
