Newcastle architecture firm has designs for global growth with European partnership

A North East architecture specialist has partnered with a Swedish medtech firm as part of its ongoing expansion.

Newcastle-based JDDK Architects have announced a new partnership with Elekta, which designs and manufactures medical technology such as MRI scanning, radio therapy and proton beam therapy equipment.

Founded in 1972 by Swedish neurosurgeon and inventor of radiosurgery Professor Lars Leksell, Elekta now employs around 4,000 people globally, providing radiotherapy solutions for cancer care and brain disorders.

The new partnership will see JDDK provide design services for the firm’s three planned new European medical centres, and follows the creation of the DFJ Designs partnership with Desco and Fairhurst Consulting Engineers.

JDDK director, Kevin Turnbull, commented: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Elekta and Fairhurst Engineers to assist their clients in the design of new medical facilities using their innovative equipment.

“The first of the projects is in Belgium with another two European centres already being discussed.”
