Singletons & Co. grows NPD team
Longridge-based Singletons & Co. has appointed an additional member of staff to its new product development team, to support its ongoing commitment to creating new and delicious dairy products that delight consumers worldwide.
Emma Hogarth joins the company as NPD Co-ordinator and will be responsible for developing new flavours and blends of cheese and fulfilling customer-specific briefs for the retailers, wholesalers and food service businesses the cheesemaker works with across the UK, US and beyond.
Emma said: “I have a real passion for food and want to ensure Singletons & Co. products will stand out and exceed customer and consumer expectations. As part of my role I will be researching consumer trends in different markets, both domestic and international, to provide insights to drive new product development – something I’m really excited about.”
Emma has three years’ experience in the food industry and is eager to undertake this new challenge, supporting recently-promoted Alex Lee in her new capacity, and the wider technical team.
Henry Openshaw, head of sales at Singletons & Co. said: “As a company we have worked hard to handcraft products of an outstanding calibre and we’re looking forward to Emma being on board to help us continue to do so.
“We already have some exciting projects in the pipeline for her to get her teeth into and I’ve no doubt that she’ll have a great impact.”
Emma, whose favourite Singletons & Co. cheese is the visually appealing, layered Stripey Jack, already has experience in recipe development, scale up and factory trials, and runs her own cake-making business out of work. She is ready to tackle the challenge of starting a new job while working remotely.
Emma continued: “It’s very strange time but you always learn something from challenging situations. I think my main challenges will be adapting to working in the home environment with the family around and carrying out practical work with limited resources. That said, I’ll be ensuring the development of new and existing products is followed effectively and efficiently from concept through to launch.”
Singletons & Co. is the largest producer of sheep’s milk cheese (Parlick) in the UK and recently enjoyed securing an own label feature listing in US giant, Trader Joe’s, which is known for taking products under its own label.
Handcrafting an impressive 1,000 tonnes of cheese from locally sourced milk per year, the cheesemaker has its sights set on further success with additional product launches lined up for later in 2020.
