Civil engineer heads up Pegasus Group's new Infrastructure Design department

National multi-disciplinary consultancy Pegasus Group continues to diversify its offering to clients with the establishment of an Infrastructure Design department.

The new field of expertise is headed up by newly appointed Senior Director Simon Jacques who will sit alongside Craig Rawlinson within a wider Transport and Infrastructure team.

Simon, a Chartered Civil Engineer with 30 years’ experience, joins Pegasus Group from RPS. With a BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering from Coventry University, Simon began his career as a graduate engineer at Sandwell Council in the West Midlands.

He has a background in planning, design and delivering civil engineering infrastructure for residential, commercial, education, urban regeneration and healthcare projects in the UK and overseas including. Work includes S38 and S278 highways, S104 and S106 drainage, utilities work, drainage strategies including Suds and also Flood Risk Assessments.

His new role for Pegasus Group will see him based in the company’s Bristol office. Pegasus Group Managing Director Tony Bateman said: “Part of the strength of the company over the last few years and particularly beneficial during the current international emergency, has been our ability to diversify.

“We recently strengthened our architecture related work by welcoming Armstrong Burton into the Pegasus fold and our new infrastructure capability will work alongside transport planning to provide engineering services throughout the full project lifecycle from assessing potential development sites in terms of engineering feasibility and abnormal constraints; supporting planning applications; and the provision of fully detailed highway and drainage infrastructure design working towards tender and contract procurement, and construction.

“We are delighted to welcome Simon to our Bristol office, as we seek to grow both infrastructure and transport across the company.”

Immediately available capabilities will include the design of new internal highway infrastructure; more complex highway and junction designs (spine roads, right turn lanes, roundabouts, etc); car parks; and pedestrian improvements, cycle and road safety schemes, including adoptable Section 38 and 278 highway works.
