Cameron Hume Strengthens Boardroom with Appointment of Global Financial Services Expert
Cameron Hume Limited, a leading independent fixed-income investment manager, has today announced the appointment of Alla Bashenko to the Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
Ms Bashenko has enjoyed a global career in financial services, predominantly with Goldman Sachs and Nomura International. Her expertise spans a wide range of asset classes and financial products, and she has experience of working across EMEA, North and South America, Asia, and emerging markets.
Sir Sandy Crombie, Chairman of the Board of Cameron Hume, commented on the new appointment: “I am delighted to welcome Alla to Cameron Hume. Her international expertise, contacts and knowledge of global markets will bring an exceptional bank of experience to the Board. Her skills are complementary to those of the existing Board members, and her different perspective will be extremely valuable to Cameron Hume.”
Ms Bashenko’s responsibilities will include taking a high-level view of the running of the business and acting in an advisory capacity when required.
She explained why she was keen to work with Cameron Hume. “Cameron Hume is a business with a tremendous amount of potential,” said Ms Bashenko. “Having a strong commitment to responsible investing and ESG principles is very important to me, and that was something I found at Cameron Hume too. As a relatively young business, with a strong foundation, the basis is there for growing into an extremely successful firm, and I am excited to be involved and do my part to help Cameron Hume achieve its full potential.”
This is the second independent appointment Cameron Hume has made to its board, following the decision in 2018 to appoint Sir Sandy Crombie as its Chairman. Sir Sandy is a commanding figure in the global financial services space and is known for his success in developing Standard Life Investments and subsequently steering Standard Life Plc through the turbulence experienced by the UK’s financial institutions during the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. He then went on to be the Senior Independent Director of RBS, until 2017.
Founded in 2011 by directors Chris Torkington and Guy Cameron, Cameron Hume now has 16 staff and USD720M assets under management.
Cameron Hume provides active management of fixed income for clients and manages the Cameron Hume Global Fixed Income ESG Fund, which offers a transparent and measurable approach for clients looking to incorporate ESG (environment, social and governance) factors into their fixed income portfolios.
