North East shipping insurer creates jobs with new insurance line

A North East shipping insurer has announced that it is creating jobs with the launch of its new insurance line.

Tyneside shipping and marine insurer North P&I Club is launching a new line of insurance internationally, expanding its team.

North – which employs 270 people in Newcastle and a further 110 in offices around the world – is launching the new insurance product line “North Hull” on 1 July as part of the company’s ongoing growth and diversification plans.

The new line is aimed at ocean-going vessels and will complement the hull and machinery insurance product already available from Sunderland Marine, part of the North Group.

Paul Jennings, CEO of North P&I Club, commented: “With shipping more important than ever to the international supply chain – bringing vital food and medicines to British shelves – we’re focused on continuing to support the maritime industry, providing an additional line of insurance for those larger vessels that keep supplies moving across the globe.

“Diversification is a significant feature of North’s overall strategic direction and this move will bring financial benefits for our membership.”

“Everyone at North is extremely excited with these new developments and the expansion of the team.”
