Plant-based business doubles supermarket revenue during COVID-19
A London specialist in plant-based ‘meat’ has seen its revenues in supermarkets double since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
THIS has seen its supermarket revenue double from February to March this year amid the coronavirus outbreak and subsequent economic disruption.
Launched in June 2019, THIS specialises in ‘hyper-realistic’ high protein plant-based meat alternatives.
The firm, which has grown at a compound rate of 35 per cent month-on-month, has partnered with grocery brands such as Waitrose, Co-op Food, Holland & Barrett and Ocado, as well as restaurant partners including Honest Burger and Coco Di Mama.
Last month the firm teamed up with City Harvest and Made in Hackney to donate over a tonne of THIS Isn’t Chicken for use in meals for those struggling to access food during the current crisis.
