Simon Bailes Peugeot welcomes news restrictions to be lifted on car showrooms
Simon Bailes Peugeot has welcomed the government announcement that car showrooms can re-open from Monday (June 1) as part of the move to phase two of Covid-19 restrictions.
The company – with dealerships in Stockton, Guisborough and Northallerton - is already preparing to unfurlough sales staff and is investing in a vehicle sanitiser machine to reinforce its stringent safety procedures.
Aftersales and vehicle servicing departments have continued to operate, and the range of measures introduced to protect the health of both customers and staff will now be replicated within the showrooms.
To ensure the interiors of vehicles are decontaminated and correctly cleaned, Simon Bailes Peugeot is investing in a sanitising machine expressly devised for the automotive industry, which removes all viruses, bacteria, and fine dust particles.
Currently, those visiting the dealerships are asked to observe social distancing, while transparent protective screens have been installed at customer service desks. Staff regularly use hand sanitiser whilst those working in the service department or involved in vehicle delivery wear PPE.
The Simon Bailes Peugeot website already allows customers to select, reserve and finance their new car online and provides free ‘contactless’ local home delivery or a click and collect service, in line with safety protocols.
Simon Bailes said: “We temporarily closed our showrooms in March in line with government instructions and I’m delighted they can now reopen. It represents a major step forward for the business and the local economy, as well as a return towards normality.
“The safety of our staff and customers has always been paramount and that will continue to be the case when our showrooms once again reopen their doors.
“While our aftersales and vehicle servicing departments have continued to provide an essential service, vehicle sales are a hugely important part of the business.
“I’ve been encouraged by the number of online enquiries in recent weeks from those wishing to buy a new or used vehicle and I and my staff look forward to welcoming customers old and new back to our showrooms from June 1.”
