Sky-House sales and interest soar through lockdown

THE COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown have failed to dampen interest in South Yorkshire’s acclaimed Sky-House development.

Work on Sky-House at the Waverley Regeneration site, close to both Rotherham and Sheffield, continued throughout the past three months, always complying with social distancing regulations.

And as soon as lockdown restrictions started to ease, the site saw an immediate rise in public interest, with a further five properties now sold.

More than 50 per cent of the homes have now been sold, with the second phase, made up of blocks three and four, scheduled for general release in June.

And at the same time, pre-planning discussions are taking place with Rotherham Council for a second development of a further 44 properties alongside the current Waverley site at Lescar Road.

The Sky-House development is part of an ambitious campaign funded by Homes England’s Home Building Fund.

The project is based around the already hugely acclaimed back-to-back housing model created by the architects at Sheffield’s CODA Studios.

The Sky-House Co was founded by CODA chairman David Cross and property developer Philip Prince of Broadfield Holdings.

Sales enquiries are being dealt with by the Land & New Homes department of award-winning Sheffield estate agency Redbrik.

“To say we have been overwhelmed by the response to Sky-House over the past few weeks would be an understatement,” said David.

“Even with the lockdown, there has been no decline in interest - in fact, Redbrik has seen online impressions for Sky-House triple the branch average.”

David added that Sky-House Co is taking advantage of the latest online technology to maintain that interest. Redbrik is holding a Zoom Virtual Viewing and Meet the Architect session at noon on Saturday 23 June, as well as holding virtual and personal showings of the Waverley homes upon request.

“We were always confident that we had developed a concept that would prove successful, but that success is exceeding all expectations,” he said.

“Sky-House Waverley is proving especially popular with first-time buyers, meeting all their requirements for space - which is above the national average - the correct price range and innovative design.”

CODA’s 21st-century take on the back-to-back Victorian house includes two double bedrooms, two bathrooms, an open plan kitchen/diner and a private roof garden accessed from a private study area.

Outside there is a compact front garden, home zone parking courts and communal play areas for kids.

“We are particularly pleased that we are now talking to Rotherham Council and Harworth Group about the second phase of Waverley,” David said.

“An extra 44 three and four-bedroom properties at this extremely popular and sought after location will simply strengthen the Sky-House brand at this important time of regeneration.
