Recruitment opportunities after contractor appointed to £32m transport scheme

The new contractor appointed to build the £32m King’s Dyke transport scheme is recruiting for key roles as work starts on site.

Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK is seeking applications for site agents, sub agents, senior project engineers and a project public liaison officer.

The Cambridgeshire County Council King’s Dyke project involves constructing a new road and bridge over the Ely to Peterborough railway line crossing on the A605 near Whittlesey. The level crossing will subsequently be removed as part of the programme.

And Jones Bros is now looking for local people to fill a variety of permanent vacancies as part of its recruitment drive in the area.

Geraint added: “We are aware of the challenges presented by COVID-19 and we have put measures in place such as risk assessments, social distancing and suitable hygiene and welfare facilities on site.”

Established in the 1950s, Jones Bros’ leadership team consists of members of the second and third generations of the founding family. It employs more than 400 people.

The company is currently working on contracts in various sectors including highways, flood and marine defence, waste management and renewable energy around the UK.

The company runs an award-winning apprenticeship scheme, which has produced more than 40 per cent of its current workforce, with many of its senior managers having started out as apprentices or in a trainee role. It has recruited more than 100 apprentices during the past three years.
