Demand Soars For Quality Rental Property In Yorkshire

Yorkshire’s largest independent estate agent, Dacre, Son & Hartley, is experiencing soaring demand from potential tenants looking to rent homes across West and North Yorkshire, as the easing of lockdown restrictions mean people can once again view property and move home.

During the first two weeks of June, the company let twice as many homes as it did in the same period last year, which has resulted in a need for fresh instructions across its 20 offices, which all reopened on the 18th May 2020, as part of Government plans to restart the housing market.

Emma Kerrywood, who heads up Dacre, Son & Hartley’s lettings division, said: “The Government was particularly keen to bring the housing market out of lockdown in mid-May and our lettings division has been extremely busy ever since.

“There was a significant level of pent-up demand in the market for good quality rental property and four weeks on, we still have high numbers of tenants registered with us who are looking for homes to rent. Some have suffered relationship break-ups and others are moving for work reasons, which have largely been caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to the usual tenant demand that we see.

“As a result, we are now in need of new rental stock and would urge landlords to contact our team to arrange market appraisals, find new tenants and start generating an income for their empty property.”

Dacre, Son & Hartley offers landlords a ‘let only’ service through to a ‘fully managed’ service which includes sourcing tenants, compiling contracts, collection of rent and property inspections. Covering a vast geographical range from its 20 offices, it is currently marketing properties to let that range in price from £450 to £3,500 per calendar month.
