Leeds brownfield site to be transformed into 600-home mixed use scheme
Plans to transform a vacant brownfield site on the edge of Leeds city centre into a mixed use development have been put forward.
Avison Young has submitted plans to Leeds City Council - on behalf of its client Commercial Development Projects Ltd - for the regeneration of a 2.07 hectare brownfield site at Kirklees Road.
Plans for the site include the creation of up to 631 one, two- and three-bedroom apartments spread across six blocks, with commercial spaces on the ground floor.
In addition, the scheme will feature a new public park and green spaces, aiming to maximise walking and cycling routes along the River Aire.
Rachel May, planner at Avison Young, commented: “We have worked closely with Leeds City Council and other key stakeholders to design a scheme which will provide much needed high-quality housing, as well as further develop local amenities and create large areas of attractive green space.
“The plans make a significant contribution to the ongoing regeneration of the area and aim to create a fantastic place for those who live and work there.”
