IoD appoints Jim Wright as business voice for South Yorkshire
The Institute of Directors (IoD) has appointed Jim Wright as Policy Voice Ambassador for South Yorkshire.
Jim will head the IoD’s powerful Policy Voice programme in the region, which enables directors to influence government ministers and policy makers.
The IoD has secured vital support for business leaders during the Covid-19 pandemic, including financial assistance for wage bills and changes to insolvency rules. Through Policy Voice, it provided government with first-hand reports from those dealing with the crisis.
Jim is a partner at law firm Knights with more than 20 years’ experience as a solicitor. He specialises in employment law, advising mid-market companies and PLCs.
Jim said: “The past few months have been incredibly difficult for directors, who have been forced to make tough decisions. Through Policy Voice, we capture their experiences and views and ensure they are represented in the corridors of power. Whether you run a large business, a start-up or a charitable organisation, the IoD is here to support you.”
Keith Jackson, IoD chair for South Yorkshire, added: “Policy Voice is a fantastic platform that has helped to deliver positive change for directors. Jim has been an important member of our branch team for several years and I’m delighted that he has taken on this important role. He is the ideal person to promote and enhance Policy Voice in South Yorkshire.”
Other Policy Voice Ambassadors include Rashmi Dubé of Legatus Law, who represents West Yorkshire and played a key role in delivering change over late payments.
The IoD is the UK’s number one organisation for directors, providing support, events, professional development and a lobbying voice for all types of business.
