“Great news for British businesses” as self-isolation lifted for lower risk countries
Travellers will no longer have to self-isolate when arriving from certain countries according to new measures announced today (July 3).
The government’s Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has announced that from July 10, people visiting from or returning from a number of countries deemed low-risk will not have to self-isolate upon returning to the UK.
Travellers will be able to come to the UK from destinations which are considered by the government to pose a reduced risk to the public health of UK citizens, including Germany, France, Spain and Italy, without being required to self-isolate upon entry.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps commented: “Today marks the next step in carefully reopening our great nation.
“Whether you are a holidaymaker ready to travel abroad or a business eager to open your doors again, this is good news for British people and great news for British businesses.”
“The entire nation has worked tirelessly to get to this stage, therefore safety must remain our watch word and we will not hesitate to move quickly to protect ourselves if infection rates rise in countries we are reconnecting with.”
