Edtech startup eyes global expansion with six-figure investment
A London-based edtech startup has secured six-figure funding to accelerate its international expansion.
Coding school Cypher has today closed a funding round of £225k in investment after its recent pivot to take the business online throughout the COVID-19 crisis.
Founded in 2016 by entrepreneur Elizabeth Tweedale, Cypher offers coding camps for children aged 5 to 14 with the aim of inspiring participants to learn coding, computational thinking, problem solving and communication.
Led by a range of unnamed angel investors, this latest funding round brings Cypher’s investment total to £670k, and will support the firm’s expansion into new markets.
CEO Elizabeth Tweedale commented: “Throughout lockdown our aim has been to keep children learning and engaged, as the ability for children to learn how to code is key in preparing them for their futures.
“The recent pandemic has caused many challenges. It’ll be the ideas and companies created by our children that will change the future.
“Our recent injection of funds is incredibly exciting as it will help Cypher continue to teach more children globally as we continue our expansion to the US and Middle East.”
