Yorkshire housing developer launches public consultation for 72 home scheme

Plans have been revealed for 72 new homes on a derelict site in North Leeds.

Advent Developments, based in Middlesbrough, is working on a full planning application for the proposed redevelopment of a former school site and listed buildings between Tile Lane and East Moor Lane in Adel.

Plans for 72 new homes on a derelict in the popular North Leeds suburb of Adel have been released and a public consultation launched.

The 12 acre site, which comprises the historic quadrangle and chapel, will be converted to provide 28 homes. A further 44 properties, including affordable homes will be positioned around the site.

The scheme also includes extensive landscaping and habitat improvements as well as improved footpath links and protection of the greenbelt.

In addition to the new housing, the plans incorporate a high quality 80 bed nursing home to help meet the significant under provision in the area.

Tim Reeve, managing director of Advent Developments, said: “The listed buildings have fallen into disuse and redevelopment of the site is long overdue.

“Our aim is to deliver a sensitive, sustainable, design led regeneration of the derelict site and buildings to create high quality family homes, including affordable homes as well as a much needed nursing home facility.

“We are launching this consultation to seek the views of the Adel community and we hope they will welcome this regeneration project.”

Councillor Barry Anderson added: “The East Moor Lane site and buildings are a blight on the landscape. As Adel councillors we have a responsibility to our constituents to lobby the council to ensure that this land is developed into a great place to live.

“We are pleased that specialist developer Advent has taken on this important project and is looking to retain the listed buildings and produce a well thought out and imaginative scheme.

“Advent has engaged with us early in the design process and we support these proposals which we hope receive the backing of the local community. We are looking forward to seeing this land turned into a sustainable and high quality development.”
