Former casino on Leeds Dock to be transformed into flexible workspace
A London company has announced a new workspace, wellness and social concept to open at Leeds Dock in Spring next year.
Department Casino is part of Allied London’s All Work & Social brand. It will transform the former Alea Casino on Leeds Dock into an art deco managed workspace for tech, media, and creative businesses of 1-200 people to grow and network in the North.
As well as a workspace, there will be wellness and social spaces throughout the property. The 55,000 sq ft building not only has flexible office space, but also a clubhouse, rooftop, and other amenities developed in collaboration with local businesses.
Leeds is the third city in the UK included in Department’s portfolio, following on from London and Manchester.
Anthony Powell, managing director at Department, said: “We’re pleased to introduce Department to Leeds.
“The building is designed to evolve and grow with each business, with provisions ranging from single coworking hot desks available for an afternoon, to meeting rooms and managed office space available for businesses of up to 200 people.”
Leeds Dock is also home to Sky and Channel 4, with the latter expected to host a live daily television show there from September.
Elizabeth Peckett, asset director at Allied London, landlords of Leeds Dock, said: “It (Leeds Dock) offers a diverse inventory of spaces for pioneering media and tech companies and will provide new ways to network and collaborate which other occupiers.”
