British Awards for An Entrepreneurial Family

One family in the North East is celebrating for not just one, but two of its members being shortlisted in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

Emma and Steve Black, father and daughter, are delighted to receive such an accolade in their respective categories.

Dr Emma Black is the managing director of Cascade Cash Management (Cascade). Cascade is a leading cash savings and fintech company. It’s independent and transparent service generates enhanced cash returns and increased depositor protection for cash savings through professional cash management.

The team have built and launched an online savings portal and Dr Emma and the Cascade team are delighted to have been shortlisted in the start-up entrepreneur of the year award category.

Steve Black is well known for his time working in the premier sporting industry, improving the physical and mental wellbeing of well known and respected sportspeople around the world.

Over time Steve has expanded his offering to working and supporting those in the corporate world, under his company Protean Solutions, ensuring that people stay agile of mind in work.

Steve and the Protean team have been shortlisted for the health and wellbeing entrepreneur of the year award category, Steve is looking forward to the online regional finals in September. He said:

“It is a real honour to be shortlisted for the work I do with SME’s, corporates and sportspeople. It is however, an even greater source of pride, that my daughter has also been shortlisted in a category for her work at Cascade with the rest of the team. Entrepreneurialism certainly runs in the family!”

Steve’s twin sons are also entrepreneurs, successful in their own fields of expertise. Emma, the youngest child, is growing an outstanding business that has administered over £1bn of savings since inception. She said:

“Cascade has been acknowledged by a number of awards in the last few years and it is testament to the whole team at Cascade that we are so well thought of. The Great British Entrepreneur Awards are very well respected so I am delighted that our hard work has been recognised by being shortlisted. I was encouraged and raised to have a positive solution-based mindset and I’m fortunate to be surrounded by like-minded individuals. My dad taught me a lot about dreaming big and working hard, and I am over the moon that we can celebrate our shortlisting together!”
