Three-year ‘first time buyer’ development completes in Croydon
A development of 96 apartments in north-west Croydon has completed, with 150 first time buyers set to take residency at the property.
Bellway London has sold the final apartment at its Ikon development, off Purley Way, consisting of five buildings which have replaced Lombard House, adjacent to the Lombard roundabout.
More than 90 per cent of the building’s new residents used the London Help to Buy equity loan scheme to take their first step onto the property ladder.
Each of the units benefit from a central landscaped courtyard garden area as well as private balcony or terrace space.
Ikon is the latest in a series of investments into the Croydon area, following the launch of BoxPark – a food and drink venture – in 2016, and the £42m restoration of entertainment and arts centre Fairfield Halls in 2019.
Daniel Williamson, head of sales at Bellway London, said: “It has been a pleasure to hand over the keys to so many young first-time buyers at Ikon, which is testament to the location we have built in and the attainable pricing of our apartments in Croydon.
“First-time buyers have been drawn to Ikon for multiple reasons. It is a popular location close to Valley Park, but the Bellway London offering has also been important. We are proud to build homes to an exemplary standard, offering a high specification at a price first-time buyers can afford.
“The final purchasers at Ikon will soon receive the keys to their new home. This will mark the end of a three-year project for Bellway London in Croydon, from when the first spade hit the ground to start construction work in 2017.”
Bellway London’s next project in Croydon – Vista24 – is a development of 181 apartments off Dingwall Road. Designed by architects Broadway Malyan, Vista24 will feature a 24-storey, glass-fronted building close to East Croydon station.
