Multi-million pound contract could create additional 25 jobs at Teesworks site

A planning application has been submitted for a multi-million pound project at the Teesworks site that could create a raft of new jobs.

Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen has put forward the proposals for the redevelopment of a 50-acre site around the former Metal Recovery Area in South Bank.

Carried out by Darlington-based Hall Construction, the project will involve major earthworks, ground engineering and remediation in order to create a large development platform for major manufacturing uses.

Mayor Houchen commented: “Teesworks is creating local jobs for local workers and this planning application is the latest example of this.

“Local companies from across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool are already onsite, we have Hall Construction from Darlington, Seymour Civil Engineering from Hartlepool and CW Russell from Redcar, all onsite helping to transform the former steelworks and creating jobs.

“The redevelopment of the Teesworks site will transform our region, as part of this transformation it is critical that local firms are part of the process so I would urge companies across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool to bid on contracts for Teesworks.”
