Planning permission granted for Anwyl Partnerships latest Extra Care scheme

Anwyl Partnerships has secured full planning approval for its latest land-led development in Wirral, Merseyside, under a joint application with ‘NHS Property Services’.

Specialists in the provision of residential land and build developments, Anwyl Partnerships has again partnered with Magenta Living to deliver the £8.5million project, which is set to begin later this year, following a unanimous vote from Wirral Council to grant full planning permission. The extra care housing scheme on Greenheys Road in Wallasey, Wirral, comprises 53 apartments and will help to fulfil a much-needed gap in high quality, affordable extra care accommodation in the Borough, whilst making use of the brownfield site, which currently houses two former NHS buildings which were recently taken out of use.

Tom Anwyl, Managing Director of Anwyl Partnerships explained: “This is a fantastic development that is set to become a true asset to the local community. We’ve worked collaboratively with the team at Magenta Living from the outset to identify the real requirements for the new facility, ensuring it will be placed as a vibrant addition to the area whilst enhancing the wider community long into the future.

“Our in-depth understanding of what an affordable housing development, such as this, needs to bring about has allowed us to overcome any obstacles and drive forward the best solution which meets the aspirations and objectives of both Magenta Living and Wirral Council.”

The new development will regenerate the 1.2-acre site off Greenheys Road, replacing the old NHS buildings, which are now due to be demolished. The new extra care building will accommodate 53 units, 45 of which will be one-bedroom apartments, with the additional eight apartments being two-bedroomed, and includes a car park and associated landscaping.

Paul Anson, Director of Business Growth and Resilience at Magenta Living said: “We are really pleased that planning permission has been granted for the development of our second extra care scheme in Wirral. It’s great to be able to regenerate what is currently a disused site and provide much needed over 55’s accommodation in the Wallasey area. We are looking forward to again be working in partnership on this project with Anwyl Partnerships, who really do support our vision of creating vibrant homes and neighbourhoods.”

Tom concluded: “The partnering approach we take with our client’s embodies the ethos and spirit of the company - this latest news has been welcomed by all parties and allows us to begin work on site later this year.”
