Energy giant to acquire London’s ‘largest electric vehicle charging network’

London’s ‘largest’ electric vehicle charging network is set for further expansion as part of a new acquisition deal.

Global oil & gas specialist Total has agreed to acquire Blue Point London from the Bolloré Group, which will see the multinational firm take over the management and operation of electric vehicle charging network Source London.

Source London, which represents more than half of the charge points in operation in the city, supports the City of London’s ambition to be a zero carbon city by 2050, and aims to increase the number of charge points tenfold within five years.

The acquisition forms part of Total’s wider strategy to become a ‘key player’ in European electric vehicle charging, with the firm already operating networks in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Alexis Vovk, president of marketing & services at Total, commented: “By combining today these existing infrastructures with Total’s know-how in terms of installation, operation and management of public electric vehicle charging networks, we are starting a new phase, supporting the expansion of electric mobility in London.”

“In collaboration with our partners and the local authorities, we will be able to meet both the strong growth in demand for on-street charge points and the needs for new mobility solutions of London users.”
