Small business insurance specialist donates 100% of profits to NHS charity

Hooray Health & Protection is planning to donate 100% of company profits to an NHS charity until January 2021, in support of frontline workers.

The employee life and income insurance specialist for SMEs is raising funds for Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Charity (BSUH). The money will help provide supplies and training, ensuring the welfare of staff under increased pressure during the coronavirus crisis.

“Through our work with small businesses, which have been impacted heavily by the pandemic, we know how important it is to actively support employees in every way possible,” said Charlie Cousins, Founder of Hooray Health & Protection. “Donating our profits to help NHS staff is our way of saying thank you to the heroes who are going above and beyond for us all at this challenging time.”

Hooray Health & Protection, which celebrates its first year in business in October, previously raised funds for the NHS charity during the nationwide lockdown, hosting online poker games for insurance industry colleagues where each player paid a fee of £5 per game.

£400 worth of pizza was delivered to local hospitals, while a visit to the cash and carry saw more food and drink donated for NHS staff to enjoy.

“The support of the community has been remarkable and really makes a difference,” said Sarah Tasker, Director of BSUH Charity. “This initiative will help to further support staff wellbeing as they respond to the continuing impact of coronavirus.”

The latest fundraising campaign has been kick-started with a £1,000 donation from another local business, insurance provider MetLife.

“On behalf of all our staff in the Brighton office, we are pleased to support Hooray’s initiative to raise money for this wonderful cause, and would like to pass our heartfelt thanks to staff in the NHS across the UK,” said Adrian Matthews, Employee Benefits Director at MetLife UK.
