Yorkshire distillery toasts new store ahead of Christmas demand
A Yorkshire distillery has expanded with the opening of a new store in the run-up to Christmas.
Raisthorpe Distillery, based in Wharram in the Yorkshire Wolds, is set to welcome customers to its store at York Designer Outlet, where it will sell its range of gins and Yorkshire tonics.
Since being established in 2008 by Julia Medforth, Raisthorpe Manor Fine Foods has grown from producing homemade gins and liqueurs in a farmhouse kitchen to having a dedicated facility on the same farm. Products are made from locally sourced ingredients where possible and its range also includes gin jams and jellies.
Throughout lockdown, Raisthorpe has sold its products through delis, farm shops, and independent retailers – as well as its own website. However, this is the company’s first permanent store.
Raisthorpe’s operations director Oliver Medforth says, “We have enjoyed a previous period of trading at the York Designer Outlet from a stall rather than a shop. Customer demand for our products – particularly during the coronavirus lockdown – showed it was time for us to expand and open a full-sized store to complement our online trade.”
Medforth continued, “Customers will be able to choose from a great range of our drinks products as well as Christmas gift sets, all in a Covid-19 secure setting.”
