WBD advises Plymouth Community Homes on manufacturing factory sale
Law firm Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) and property company Stratton Creber Commercial (SCC) advised longstanding mutual client Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) on the sale of part of its manufacturing business to local company Karsal Manufacturing Ltd.
The acquisition of PCH’s window manufacturing operation will save and create jobs in Plymouth and support Karsal Manufacturing’s expansion plans by increasing its manufacturing capacity in the city and wider region.
A multidisciplinary WBD team advised on the transaction, led by client partner Craig Moore, who guided PCH through the disposal of its manufacturing arm. He was supported, on the corporate side, by partner Tom Fitzpatrick, managing associate Sammy Hill and solicitor Jo Norris. The firm also provided key property, employment and pensions expertise led by Krista McCarthy (property); Tim Woodward and Heather Stickland (employment); and Paul Rosenzweig (pensions).
Craig Moore, partner and head of WBD’s Plymouth office, said: “Helping our clients to support the South West economy is an important strategic goal for WBD. We’re thrilled to have acted for PCH on the sale of some of its assets, which will safeguard and create jobs in the region and support the growth ambitions of a local manufacturing business.”
“Our ability to provide a multidisciplinary, full legal service, as well as our understanding of the client and the local market, meant we were able to secure the best possible outcome for PCH.”
Gill Martin, Director of Corporate Services at PCH, said: “It’s really important for us to have access to the level of experience and technical expertise from a local team with the resources of a large national firm. We’ve been working with WBD for many years and are grateful for the excellent legal service it offers. The firm’s track record in the manufacturing sector really shone through and played a big part in the successful completion of this deal.”
SCC Managing Director, Chris Ryland, says: “I am delighted to have supported PCH throughout this transaction. As a result of this deal, a manufacturing business is staying local and important skilled jobs are secured for our City”.
Ranking in the UK’s top 20 law firms, WBD advises clients across 11 key sectors from eight cities in the UK and 19 offices in the US. WBD’s corporate team in the South West was recently nominated for three awards following a period of significant growth in deal activity, including four major M&A transactions in the region. WBD is the largest law firm in Plymouth where it employs around 180 people.
