Taylor&Emmet sets new conveyancing records
Sheffield solicitors, Taylor&Emmet LLP, are celebrating a record-breaking quarter for conveyancing transactions, as local property sales and purchases continue to soar.
The firm’s conveyancing team has experienced an exponential rise in new business through the summer, resulting in more new files being opened than ever before.
Over the second quarter of this year, Taylor&Emmet was instructed in 2,359 sale and purchase transactions, exceeding the previous record of 2,324 set in the first quarter of 2015. September was an exceptional month, with the team receiving 928 new instructions, a 63% increase on the same month last year, smashing the existing monthly record of 880, which has stood since July 2007.
This unprecedented rise in new business means that the conveyancing team has welcomed almost as many new clients in the first half of 2020 as it did in the same period last year, even though the first two months of the financial year were spent under lockdown conditions.
Neil Riley, Taylor&Emmet’s head of residential conveyancing, said: “Our new business team has gone to extraordinary lengths to keep up with demand and the department as a whole is working incredibly hard to deliver the levels of service our clients expect. We are delighted to be thriving in such uncertain economic times and this is testament to the tenacity everyone has shown in this most challenging of years. By embracing new technology and leaner working structures, we are striving to deliver faster turnaround times and ultimately providing a better customer experience.”
Taylor&Emmet’s conveyancing practice is the largest in Sheffield and accounts for 40% of the firm’s overall turnover. It was named Joint Panel Firm of the Year at the 2019 Countrywide Awards, triumphing over a national field incorporating much larger organisations, having been judged on a range of criteria, including customer service and transaction times.
