Contracts in excess of £6m keep Hellens Group open for business in Tees Valley
Hellens Group, a physical site regeneration contractor and developer with offices based in Stockton-on-Tees, has strengthened its position within the Tees Valley, thanks to winning in excess of £6m contract awards in the residential, education and the sports sectors since the end of lockdown in July.
Residential developers, Duchy Homes, Esh Homes and Keepmoat Homes have all entrusted project awards to Hellens, with the firm carrying out work including earthworks, offsite sewers, pumping station construction and onsite roads and sewers.
As part of this project, Hellens will be working on sites including Duchy Homes’ new flagship residential development of 67 properties on Wynyard Park, Esh Homes residential development in Middleton-St-George and the Keepmoat Homes Central Park development in Darlington.
Hellens Group has also completed a c£220k project to extend the existing car park, playground and new access steps and walling to playing fields at Wynyard Church of England Primary School. The development will complement the school’s existing facilities and allow them the necessary room for expansion.
In the sporting sector, the firm has completed the contract to construct West Hartlepool Rugby Club’s new 3G training facility. Working with local building company, Seymour CPM Limited, Hellens assisted with the design and development of the scheme, which will be used by the club and local community for semi-professional rugby and grass roots football.
Gavin Cordwell-Smith, chief executive of the Hellens Group, said: “The last few months have been incredibly trying for businesses across the region, however construction appears to still have a great deal going on at present and we are delighted to be supporting this region’s plans on a number of fronts.
“It’s great to see that local firms are picking up work in the area. It’s incredibly important for the local economy that businesses providing jobs for local people have a strong pipeline of work to ensure a solid future.
“At Hellens, we are also working up our longer-term development plans for Burtree Garden Village, Darlington with Homes England and Darlington Borough Council which will further enhance our presence in the region. We hope we’ll have more exciting announcements in Tees Valley soon.”
