Tidal wave of buyers secured for coastal homes
Two thirds of the homes released for sale at Castle Fields, which are being built in the magnificent grounds of the historic Sneaton Castle in High Stakesby on the outskirts of Whitby, are now sold subject to contract.
21 homes have been made available to date, and seven of the most recently released phase of 12 properties at the outstanding development, sold within just six weeks.
In total, an extensive range of 38 luxury homes, from two-bedroom bungalows to five-bedroom detached family houses are being built by Harrison Homes, which is part of the award-winning York-based development firm S Harrison.
Local estate agent, Nick Henderson, from Hendersons, said: “This development is proving incredibly popular as it appeals to all types of buyers including first timers and downsizers, as well as people wanting a standout holiday home and a number of investors.
“The take up at Castle Fields has been phenomenal and the speedy sales are a ringing endorsement of the quality and unique nature of the development, as well as being a reflection of the pulling power of Whitby, which has recently been named the most in-demand coastal resort for housing in the UK by Rightmove.
“We’ve found that buyers are increasingly attracted to coastal living and the freedom it provides in light of the current situation with Covid-19, and local people are recognising the quality of the homes on offer, which surpasses everything else in the area. It’s clear that Castle Fields is one of the finest new residential developments in Whitby in recent years, and it’s come to market at the right time, especially in light of the recent cut in stamp duty.”
Buyers at Castle Fields can specify kitchen, bathroom and flooring styles and other upgrades, depending on the stage of the build when they purchase. Nick added: “There are 16 different house styles to choose from and the ability to personalise further details alongside Harrison Homes’ exacting design-and-build quality, is very appealing to purchasers.”
David Clancy, from S Harrison said: “Our belief that this very special development, and the range of homes we’re offering, would appeal to all types of buyers, is being borne out. We are really pleased with how the development is progressing, and the interest it is generating from both local people and those from further afield.
“The show home will open in early January, which will enable buyers to experience the attention to detail and the striking, high quality interiors that will be a key feature in every home. A number of plots are also starting to near completion, with the first buyers set to move in early in the New Year.”
Prices at Castle Fields start from £240,000 and range up to £395,000 for the five-bedroom detached homes. David added “With views of the moors against the spectacular backdrop of Sneaton Castle, it’s a unique and very attractive location to live. Buyers at Castle Fields can enjoy a great combination of town, country and coastal living alongside all the benefits of buying a new build, contemporary home.”
Nick added: “We are incredibly lucky to be on a beautiful coastline and Castle Fields’ proximity to it, as well as one of the UK’s largest national parks, means there is plenty for homeowners to enjoy outdoors. Just minutes from the beach between Whitby and Sandsend, and with direct trains and buses to Scarborough, Middlesbrough, York and Leeds – the appeal of Castle Fields is obvious!”
